Saving You Money
As the weekend just gone has shown, Cornwall can be a fickle beast at this time of year. With the winds blowing a gale and the rains lashing down one minute, and the sun shining brightly the next, it can often be tough to decide where to take our dogs out when the weather comes in. Even when the conditions outside aren't playing ball, it's vitally important to get your dogs out of the house and give their bodies and their brains a good workout each and every day. One of our favourite things to do in the winter months, is to take our dogs for a walk that has a cosy and comfortable pub or cafe en-route, so we can warm our cockles with a creamy, marshmallow-y hot chocolate or Cornish cider, and make our winter walks feel like a pleasure rather than a chore.
At The Pets Larder we love our spectacular county whatever the weather and, with our Cornish heritage and our years of experience looking after dogs, we have got a superb selection of dog friendly pubs and cafes that are the perfect places to refuel after a ramble with your delightful dogs in Cornwall.
If you're looking for a traditional Cornish pub that is steeped in history, is as quaint as can be and is completely dog friendly, then look no further than The Old Inn. Situated in the heart of the pretty and picturesque Mullion village, on the Lizard Peninsula, The Old Inn is a traditionally thatched pub that has been serving food and drinks to visitors since the 16th century. The food offering at The Old Inn is locally sourced and is packed full of delicious pub classics alongside a very special (and one of favourite things about this wonderful pub) menu for your four legged friends, so they can enjoy some tasty treats as you and your family sit down for a delicious lunch or dinner. The Old Inn also offers some delightful dog friendly rooms, so those of us who aren't lucky enough to be located on The Lizard can enjoy all the delights of this wonderful public house anytime.
The recent renovations at the Pityme Inn have turned this village pub into a gastronomic giant. The Pityme is located just a mile away from Rock beach, which is dog friendly all year round, and is the perfect place to take the weight off your feet and relax with some amazing locally sourced food and drinks after a sandy stroll. The Pityme Inn is open, and serves food, from 9am until late, so you can be sure of a warm welcome whenever you decide to make your visit. This perfect pub welcomes dogs at any time and has a good amount of seating inside and out, so you can be sure of a seat with your canine companion whatever the weather.
If you and your favourite furry friend prefer a trot around the town on your autumn outings, then we have got the cafe for you. The Pier Cafe is situated on one of Falmouth's most iconic locations, The Prince of Wales Pier, and during the day serves up a superb selection of locally sourced breakfasts, lunches, coffee and cakes. The Pier Cafe also hosts a range of excellent evening offerings, in the form of fantastic feast evenings, live music and Cornish Tapas tastings.
