When the evening news feels like a nonstop stream of conflict and fear, it’s easy to feel powerless. We’re just two ordinary parents—dog lovers, business owners, and, like millions of others, deeply concerned about the world our children will inherit.
That’s why, here at The Pets Larder, we decided to do something small but meaningful: design a series of T-shirts that aren’t about profit or fashion trends. They’re about peace, hope, and a refusal to stay silent.
And yes—the entire creative process was a true collaboration between human hearts and artificial intelligence.
The Spark: “Paws for Peace”
Our journey began with three simple words: Paws for Peace. We love our pets, and we love our kids. If we can’t safeguard their future, what’s the point of anything else?
That belief inspired the Paws for Peace Collection—a series of original designs that draw from landmark eras of protest art. Each T-shirt is a bold visual statement, crafted to spark conversation and stand for change.
Design Inspiration: Protest Through the Decades
1960s Peace Movement
Context: Amid the Vietnam War, young people in the U.S. rallied under the peace symbol (✌️), tie-dye colours, and slogans like “Make Love, Not War.” Music festivals like Woodstock became epicentres of “flower power” and anti-war sentiment.
Our Design: Psychedelic pastels, flowing curves, and floral motifs combine with the slogan “Paws, Not Wars.” AI-generated mood boards helped us select dyslexia-friendly colour palettes and font treatments for broad accessibility.
1970s Gonzo Journalism
Originally pioneered by Hunter S. Thompson, Gonzo journalism was more than writing—it was a form of truth-telling through total immersion. It broke conventions, tore down the fourth wall, and exposed power through raw, unfiltered honesty. It was chaotic, emotional, rebellious—and most importantly, human.
Our Design:
“Paws Not Wars – The Gonzo Edition” honours that spirit, using art as activism.
Distressed, ink-splattered lines and hand-drawn textures echo the frenetic energy of 70s underground press. The lettering feels typewritten, urgent, and alive.
We collaborated with AI as a creative partner—using it to sketch visual layouts inspired by Ralph Steadman’s iconic inkwork—before adding our own human touch to refine the shapes, placement, and meaning.
The result is a design that feels raw but hopeful.
A peaceful rebellion.
A wearable protest.
A reminder that change starts with courage—and sometimes with a t-shirt.
Late-60s/70s Black Power & Justice Movements
Context: The Black Panther Party’s visual identity—bold graphics, raised fists, Pan-African colours—became a global symbol of solidarity, resistance, and empowerment.
Our Design: A raised paw mimics the powerful fist, set against a black, red, and green backdrop. The slogan “Power to the Peaceful” was developed through AI-assisted badge sketches, then hand-refined to honour the spirit of unity.
Why AI—and Why Now?
AI is often framed as a tool for surveillance, profit-maximisation, or worse—war. But we saw something different.
We used AI not to replace creativity, but to amplify it. From mood boards to colour suggestions and sentiment checks, we guided each prompt with intention:
“Focus on resilience. Exclude violence. Elevate community.”
The result? Three T-shirts that speak louder than headlines—and invite meaningful conversation wherever they’re worn.
Investing in Impact, Not Margins
You might be wondering: Where do the profits go?
All profits are reinvested into the Paws for Peace platform—supporting new designs, community events, and collaborations with peace-building and animal welfare organisations. We’re not here to fill our pockets. We’re here to amplify your voice.

🧠 A Note on AI and Responsibility
We believe in using technology with care and intention.
While AI can be resource-intensive at scale, the kind of creative prompting we used has a minimal environmental footprint—often smaller than a single online search or social media post.
Our designs are created consciously, one at a time, on-demand, to reduce waste and spark thoughtful conversation—not to flood the internet with more noise.
We chose AI not for profit, but to reimagine what’s possible. To prove that technology can serve peace, not conflict—creativity, not consumerism.
🎨 A Note on AI, Art, and Creative Rights
Let’s be clear: the Kindness Survives campaign was co-created with AI—but not to replace artists.
We used AI as a tool for ideation, never to copy another artist’s style or work. Our prompts were purposeful. The concepts and messages are ours—shaped by love, not shortcuts.
That said, we recognise the harm AI can cause when misused, such as:
-
Replicating an artist’s style without consent
-
Training on scraped datasets without credit or compensation
-
Drowning platforms in mass-produced, unoriginal visuals
We believe the future of creativity must protect creators.
That means:
-
Artists deserve new rights that reflect the digital age
-
AI-generated work should always be labelled (as ours is)
-
Platforms, businesses, and buyers must choose transparency over trickery
If you’re an artist, designer, or illustrator—your voice matters now more than ever.
If you’re a supporter or customer, ask questions. Choose work that values people as much as pixels.
Because this isn’t just about art. It’s about trust.
We use AI with intention. And we stand with artists.
