As we have spoken about before, the prevalence of dogs that have sensitivities or allergies to certain foods and ingredients is higher than we might think, with some studies suggesting nearly 1 in 10 dogs will show some sensitivity to what they are consuming.
If your dog is showing signs of an allergy or sensitivity the first port of call should always be a veterinary professional to make sure as the symptoms can also be the signs of a more serious issue. To find out the common signs of an allergy and what to do about it, have a look at our blog on hypoallergenic dog food.
However, if you do find out your dog has a sensitive stomach we can help. It’s important we know we have a choice of foods and treats that we can feed our fabulous four-legged friends dependent on what their stomachs might be sensitive to.
Surprisingly, the most common food allergies and sensitivities are to protein sources. With all this in mind, we thought we’d collate a list of a few of our favourite treats for sensitive stomachs so you’ll know exactly what to buy if your dog is suffering from this common issue.
The best type of treats for dogs with sensitive stomachs or food allergies are those that are made with single ingredients or single protein sources. This allows you and your dog to be sure exactly what’s inside the treats and make it easy to avoid what might be causing the upset.
It is also best to feed treats that are made with all-natural ingredients to ensure that no additives are causing the sensitivity in your dog's stomach, as these chemical ingredients can also be a potential source of issues.
Another common allergy in dogs that can cause sensitivity in the stomach is grains. Many of our four-legged friends are sensitive to treats containing grains and as such, it is best to avoid these where you can.
All of the treats here, at Natural Cornish Pet, are made with the very best ingredients and are free of any added nasties, so you can be sure of a natural unadulterated dog treat whatever you decide to purchase from us.
